say green

Every once in a while Van will say things that keep me laughing for weeks afterwards whenever I think abt. him... this was one of those times:

We met Lauren and her boys and Frank, Tracy and the girls for breakfast on july 4th in Charlotte. Evan was telling Taylor and Sullivan a joke that went as follows:

I bet I can make you say green. What are the colors of the American Flag? (to which the other kid would sat red, white, blue) Evan then said, See! I told you I could make you say blue (no, you said you could make me say green!) Evan- You said green!!

So, Sullivan turns to me and says: "Mommy, I bet I can make you say green!"

Me: Ok.

Sullivan: "(yelling) Say green, say green!"

he is such a turkey!

our converastion this evening:

Jonas: (crying) Mom, Sullivan hit me!!??

Me: Van, we don't hit! Why did you hit him.

Van: I didn't

Me: you didn't?

Van: No, I punched him.

We ended up in the ER last week with Van... He and his brothers were showing off for Katie
when Van jumped on Ts back for a piggy back ride... T wasn't expecting it and fell staright back catching Vans head on the metal corner of our coffee table... The ER guy said they could put a staple in it, but if he was careful it should do just fine. we opted no staple and it healed nicely but I have never seen so much blood come out of someone so fast... it was gross....

I got pulled over

Saturday, as we were on our way home from JOnas' baptism, I attracted the attention of a state trooper. He truned on his lights and pulled a u turn on southgate, but stayed a few cars behind me and turned off his lights. I had been speeding, but not a ton, so I wasn't sure if he had turned for me, or jsut because. The light turned green, I turned on 460. He passed all the other cars, but didn't get behind me. He pulled up right beside me and I could feel him watching me, but I wouldn't turn my head. A truck had pulled up right behind me and he was on my left. My exit came up so I quickly took it, leaving him slamming on his breaks to get behind the truck. That's when I realized he was after me... I merged, changed lanes and he stayed right behind me without turning on lights. It wasn't until I turned onto the neighborhood road that he pulled me over. I pulled into a church parking lot and rolled down my windows. he approached the car, when Sullivan decieded he shoudl roll down his window and startle the trooper. Van looked him up and down and declared he looked like Indiana Jones. THe trooper laughed, and I explained that I think its because of the hat. He responded "I'm not as cool as Indiana Jones, but I wish!" He asked if we were going to a cookout and I told him that we had just come from baptizing my son. He still gave me a ticket for having an expired registration.

It will make me feel happy

Our conversation on the way to school:
V: Mom, put on the killers.
M: No, i'm driving and cant find it right now.
V: now?
M: no, Im listening to the radio.
A few minutes later...
V: Mom, sing the killers. It will make me happier.

Van had his easter egg hunt today at school. Since the weather has been so nasty, it was inside. THe kids had to find their eggs hidden amoung fake grass... It was interesting..

Van, smile! (Van: I AM)

the end of a terrible reign of power

Dear cast that has been living on my sons arm:
You are not strong enough to be a part of his life. You have caused nothing but misery for our entire family and we need you to leave. You have inflicted large amounts of bodily injury to every person in this household. You have scraped our walls and scuffed the doors. You have littered my floor with pieces of you. You have snagged his sweatshirts and made him chilly on cold mornings. He is ready to move on with his life. He is ready to wear long sleeve shirts again and do taekwondo. Your neon reinforcement is an ugly reminder of his strength and power over you. You can't hold him back, he's ready to move on. We are all accepting of this change, and are ready for the unneccesary bruising of others to end. In fact, I don't think 1 pm will come fast enough, when with glee, we will toss you in the trash, and never deal with you again... (let's just hope the nurse doesn't offer to let you be kept...)

Much appreciation- Sullivans mom

In a nutshell

Meet Van: my adourable, out of control crazy 3 year old...

I have a crazy child. I don't know how it happened. Neither me nor his father are abnormally loud, although his dad is super quick on his feet and witty. We got a child that has no volume control, knows the words to the craziest songs (pinks- so what, fall out boys- where is your boy/grand theft autumn, and the killers human are some of his favorites) and keeps us laughing non-stop. This is just my way of capturing some of those things so that when i (if ever) catch up on my scrapbooks, I have it all written in one place... this is also, like the other kids blogs, a blog that only grandmas can love....
